Larger majlis setups, sectional units with more than six seats, and offices with multiple sofas are quoted on site after a free inspection. The technician measures the actual piece rather than guessing from a photo, so the number you get is the number you pay.
Cleaning time and drying time are two different things. The cleaning itself is fast. Drying depends on the fabric, the humidity that day, and whether your AC is running.
| Item | Cleaning Time | Drying Time |
|---|---|---|
| Single seat or armchair | 20 to 30 minutes | 3 to 4 hours |
| Three seater sofa | 45 to 60 minutes | 4 to 6 hours |
| Sofa cum bed | 45 to 60 minutes | 5 to 7 hours |
| Recliner | 40 to 50 minutes | 4 to 6 hours |
| L-shaped sofa | 90 to 120 minutes | 6 to 8 hours |
| Leather sofa (any size) | 30 to 45 minutes | 1 to 2 hours |
If you need the sofa usable the same evening, book a morning slot and keep the AC on after the technician leaves. Moving air is what pulls the moisture out, not heat. Opening the windows in a Dubai summer does the opposite: it lets humid outside air in and slows drying down.
The process is the same on every visit, whether it is a single armchair or an eight seat majlis. Nothing is skipped to save time.
Using the wrong method on the wrong fabric is how sofas get ruined. Velvet that is over-wet goes stiff, and leather that is shampooed cracks. The technician identifies the material first and then picks the method.
| Fabric | Method Used | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cotton and linen blend | Shampoo plus hot water extraction | Most common in Dubai apartments, responds very well |
| Polyester and microfibre | Shampoo plus hot water extraction | Durable, fastest drying of the fabric types |
| Velvet and chenille | Low moisture foam only | Pile is brushed back in one direction while damp |
| Leather and leatherette | pH balanced cleaner and conditioner | Never soaked; conditioning prevents cracking in dry AC air |
| Suede and nubuck | Dry solvent method | Water is avoided completely on these |
| Wool blends | Cool water, mild solution | Hot water can shrink the weave |
A sofa in Dubai works harder than the same sofa anywhere else, for three reasons that have nothing to do with how tidy the home is.
Fine desert dust travels through balcony doors, window gaps and even AC returns, and it settles into upholstery fibres where a normal vacuum cannot reach it. It is abrasive, so every time someone sits down the trapped grit cuts at the fibre and wears the fabric thin from the inside.
Humidity is the second reason. Coastal humidity keeps a small amount of moisture inside the padding all year. Combine that with body oils and food particles and you have the conditions dust mites and bacteria need. That faint stale smell that returns a day after airing the room is usually coming from inside the cushions, not from the fabric surface.
The third is simply usage. Most families in Dubai spend their indoor time on the sofa because outdoor time is limited for months at a stretch. More hours of use means more body oil transfer to headrests and arms, which is why those areas darken first.
We would rather tell you the truth on the phone than take your money and disappoint you at the door. Here is an honest split.
Usually removed completely: tea and coffee, soft drinks, milk, most food spills, body oil marks on headrests and arms, pet hair, general grey traffic soiling, and light urine marks if they are recent.
Usually improved but not always erased: old ink, curry and turmeric, red wine that has dried for weeks, hair dye, blood that has set, and mould marks. These often lighten by most of the way, but a faint shadow can stay.
Cannot be fixed by cleaning: bleach marks, sun fading, burns, tears, and dye that has already transferred from denim into a light coloured fabric. These are fabric damage rather than dirt, and no cleaning method will bring the colour back. Where this happens, the technician tells you before starting instead of after.
Five minutes of preparation makes the visit faster and the result better.
For a normal family home in Dubai, every six months keeps the fabric in good condition. Homes with young children, pets, or a heavy cooking routine benefit from every three to four months, because food and oil residue builds up much faster. A guest majlis that is used only occasionally can go twelve months. Offices and reception areas usually need quarterly cleaning simply because of the number of people using them.
The pattern worth avoiding is waiting until the sofa visibly looks dirty. By the time discolouration is obvious, abrasive dust has already been grinding at the fibres for months, and the fabric will never fully return to how it looked. Regular cleaning is cheaper than the alternative.
A three seater sofa in Dubai typically costs somewhere between two thousand and eight thousand dirhams to replace. Professional cleaning of the same sofa costs a fraction of that and can add years to its usable life if the frame and springs are still sound.
Cleaning is the right choice when the frame is solid, the cushions still hold their shape, and the problem is dirt, odour or general dullness. Replacement is the honest answer when the foam has collapsed, the frame creaks, or the fabric has torn along the seams, because a clean sofa that is structurally finished is still a finished sofa. If the technician sees that during inspection, he will say so.
Slots run from 8 in the morning to 8 in the evening, seven days a week including Fridays and public holidays. Same day service is usually possible if you book before midday, and next day slots are almost always open. You get a call from the technician before he leaves for your address, so you are not sitting at home waiting on a four hour window.
Payment is taken after the work is finished and you have looked at the result, not before. Cash, card on site, and Tabby in four interest free instalments are all accepted. If something is not right, tell the technician before he packs up and he will redo that section on the spot.
Most of the dust that settles back onto a freshly cleaned sofa comes from the carpet and curtains in the same room. If those have not been cleaned in a while, cleaning only the sofa gives you a shorter lived result. Booking the room together is also cheaper than three separate visits, because the machine is already set up and the technician is already on site.
The pieces most often booked with sofa cleaning are mattresses, which hold the same body oil and dust mite problem, carpets and rugs, which act as the dust reservoir for the whole room, and curtains, which trap airborne dust before it reaches anything else. Ask the technician during the inspection and he will quote the extra items before starting, so you can decide with the numbers in front of you.
