Our electrical work is priced by the hour for repair and installation jobs, and per piece for chandeliers. Every figure below is the same figure you see in the online booking system, and it is confirmed with you before any work starts.
| Service | Price | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Switch and socket repair (hourly) | AED 109 | Faulty switches, dead sockets, loose fittings, replacing broken plates |
| Lighting installation and repair (hourly) | AED 109 | Ceiling lights, spotlights, LED strips, outdoor and balcony lights, faulty fittings |
| Electrical wiring (hourly) | AED 126 | Wiring faults, new points, rewiring a circuit, tracing a dead line |
| Single chandelier installation | AED 126 | One chandelier, including bracket fixing, wiring and testing |
Materials are separate from labour. If a part is needed, the technician tells you the cost before fitting it, and you can supply your own part if you prefer. Jobs that need a licensed contractor and building approvals, such as main distribution board replacement or new circuits into the riser, are quoted separately after an inspection.
Most household electrical jobs finish inside the first hour. The table below is what our technicians actually see on site, so you can judge whether your job is a one hour visit or longer.
| Job | Typical Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Replace a faulty switch or socket | 15 to 25 minutes | Several in the same room usually still fit in one hour |
| Fit a ceiling light or fan point | 30 to 45 minutes | Longer if a new point has to be drawn |
| Trace and fix a tripping circuit | 45 to 90 minutes | Fault finding is the slow part, not the repair |
| Install spotlights or LED strip | 45 to 60 minutes | Depends on ceiling type and how many points |
| Chandelier installation | 60 to 120 minutes | Heavy or multi-tier pieces take longer and may need two people |
| Replace a DB breaker | 30 to 45 minutes | Only where the board itself is sound |
Certain faults come up again and again here, and most of them have a specific local cause rather than bad luck.
Breakers that trip in summer are usually an overload problem, not a faulty breaker. Between June and September the AC compressor, water heater and kitchen appliances are all drawing at once on circuits that were sized years ago for lighter use. Replacing the breaker with a bigger one is the wrong answer and is dangerous, because the breaker is protecting the cable behind it. The right fix is to find what is overloading the circuit and redistribute the load.
Sockets that stop working in kitchens and bathrooms are very often a tripped RCD rather than a dead socket. One faulty appliance anywhere on that circuit can take the whole run down. The technician isolates the circuit and tests appliance by appliance instead of replacing hardware first.
Lights that flicker or buzz usually point to a loose neutral connection or an incompatible dimmer. LED fittings on old dimmers are one of the most common causes we see, and swapping the dimmer for an LED-rated one solves it in minutes.
Burning smells or brown marks around a socket are the one category that is never worth waiting on. That is heat from a loose connection, and loose connections get hotter, not better. Switch the circuit off at the board and call the same day.
The visit follows the same sequence whether it is one socket or a full fault-finding job.
Some electrical work in Dubai is regulated, and knowing the line saves you money and trouble.
Work inside your apartment or villa on existing circuits, such as replacing switches, sockets, light fittings and faulty breakers, is normal maintenance and can be done by a competent electrician on a call-out basis. That is the majority of what we handle.
Anything that touches the incoming supply, the meter, the riser, or adds new circuits to the building distribution generally requires a licensed contractor working under the authority approvals process, and in many buildings also written approval from the owners association or the developer. If your job falls into that category we will tell you at the inspection rather than start work that later has to be undone.
Two things are worth doing yourself, and both are free. Know where your distribution board is and which breaker feeds which room, and test the RCD trip button every few months by pressing it and resetting. An RCD that does not trip when tested is not protecting anyone.
Most electrical jobs can wait for a convenient slot. These cannot.
In all of these, switch off the circuit at the board first, and do not reset a breaker that has tripped more than once. It is doing its job.
Chandeliers are the job most often done badly, because the weight and the ceiling type matter more than the wiring.
| Type | Typical Install Time | What Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Small pendant or single-tier | 45 to 60 minutes | Straightforward on a concrete or gypsum ceiling with an existing point |
| Multi-tier crystal | 90 to 120 minutes | Assembly time dominates; needs a rated anchor, not the old hook |
| Heavy or oversized piece | 2 hours or more | Two technicians and a ceiling fixing suited to the load |
| High ceiling or stairwell | Quoted on site | Access equipment decides the time and the price |
The single most important part is the fixing. A gypsum false ceiling will not hold a heavy chandelier on its own, and the anchor has to reach the structural slab behind it. If a technician tells you the existing hook is not safe for the piece you bought, that is worth listening to.
Apartments are usually straightforward because circuits are compact and the board is accessible. The most common jobs are sockets, lighting, and tripping circuits caused by AC or kitchen load.
Villas bring in outdoor work, which is where Dubai conditions bite. Garden lighting, pool and pump circuits and outdoor sockets all suffer from heat, dust and irrigation water. Outdoor fittings need proper weather-rated enclosures, and a large share of villa faults come from a fitting that was never rated for outside use in the first place.
Offices and shops usually need work outside business hours, which we can schedule, and typically involve lighting layouts, additional power points for workstations, and fault finding on circuits that have been extended over the years without a record of what feeds what.
The distribution board is the small panel of switches in a cupboard, hallway or kitchen, and five minutes spent understanding yours will save a call-out at some point.
The largest switch is the main isolator, which cuts everything. Next to it, in most Dubai homes, is an RCD, which is the device that trips when it detects current leaking to earth. This is the one protecting people rather than cables, and it is why a wet bathroom fitting or a failing water heater element takes out several rooms at once. The smaller switches are the individual circuit breakers, each feeding one circuit, and each rated for the cable behind it.
When something trips, the useful sequence is to switch everything off at the board, reset the main switch, then bring circuits back one at a time. The circuit that trips again is the one with the fault. If it trips only when a particular appliance is plugged in, the appliance is the fault and not the wiring, which is the single most common outcome we find on call-outs.
Label your board if it is not labelled. Writing the room name next to each breaker takes fifteen minutes and turns a future emergency into an inconvenience. If yours has no labels, our technicians can identify and mark the circuits during any visit.
Slots run from 8 in the morning to 8 in the evening, seven days a week including public holidays. Same day service is usually available if you book before midday, and emergency call-outs are handled as fast as a technician can reach you.
Payment is taken after the job is done and tested, never in advance. Cash, card on site, and Tabby in four interest free instalments are all accepted. If the fault returns on the same point after the same repair, tell us and we will come back to it.
