Horizontal Water Heaters

Horizontal heaters sit lengthways above a false ceiling or inside a service cupboard. They are the standard choice in most Dubai apartments because they hide away without eating into ceiling height.

Vertical Water Heaters

Vertical heaters stand upright on a floor bracket or wall mount. They take up less ceiling space and are easier to service later, which makes them common in villas and utility rooms.

Solar Water Heaters

A solar set uses roof-mounted collectors plus a storage tank, with an electric backup element for cloudy days. The upfront cost is higher but the running cost drops sharply, which is why villa owners in Dubai often switch when an old cylinder finally fails.

Tank-only pricing is for properties that already have working solar collectors on the roof and only need the storage cylinder replaced.

How Long Does a Water Heater Installation Take?

Most jobs are finished in a single visit. The realistic time on site depends on access more than on the heater itself.

After fitting, the system needs to fill and heat before you get hot water at the tap. A 50–80 litre heater usually reaches temperature in around 45–60 minutes; a 200 litre cylinder can take 2–3 hours from cold. We stay until the unit is filled, purged of air, pressure-checked and confirmed heating.

Signs Your Water Heater Needs Replacing

Heaters rarely fail without warning. These are the symptoms our technicians see most often in Dubai properties:

• Rust-coloured or cloudy hot water while the cold tap runs clear — the internal tank lining has started to corrode.
• Water runs warm, then cold, quickly — sediment build-up is stealing capacity, or the element is failing.
• Damp patch or drip below the unit — a leaking cylinder cannot be repaired; it has to be replaced.
• Tripping the breaker — usually a failed heating element or a short in the thermostat.
• Banging or rumbling noises — hardened scale on the element. Dubai water is hard, so this is common.
• The unit is more than 8–10 years old — past that point, replacement usually costs less than repeat repairs.

Work that is not included: new dedicated electrical circuits, structural changes to a ceiling or cupboard, and re-routing of pipework beyond the immediate connection point. If any of that is needed, the technician quotes it before starting.

Choosing Between Horizontal, Vertical and Solar

The right heater depends on space, occupancy and how long you plan to stay in the property.

Choose horizontal if you live in an apartment with a false ceiling or a shallow service cupboard. It is the least intrusive option and the cheapest to fit.

Choose vertical if you have floor or wall space in a utility area and want easier future servicing. Vertical cylinders also tend to give better hot water recovery at the same capacity.

Choose solar if you own a villa with usable roof space and expect to stay several years. The saving comes from the electricity you stop using to heat water, so the payback improves the longer you stay.

On capacity: as a rough guide, allow 50 litres per bathroom for normal use, and step up a size if your household takes back-to-back showers in the morning.

Water Heater Servicing and Maintenance

Dubai's water is hard, and scale is the main reason heaters fail early. A descaling and element check every 12–18 months keeps recovery time normal and extends the life of the cylinder. During a service visit we drain the tank, clear sediment, inspect the element and anode, check the safety valve and confirm the thermostat is holding temperature.

If your building has recently had a water shutdown or you have moved into a property that was empty for months, it is worth having the heater checked before heavy use.

2. Add your address. Enter the building or villa and the community so the technician arrives with the right access details.
3. Choose a slot. Pick a date and a time window. Same-day slots are usually available if you book before midday.

You will get a confirmation with the technician's arrival window, and the team calls before setting off. Payment is taken only after the heater is installed, filled and confirmed heating — by card, cash, or in four instalments with Tabby.

No Hot Water Today?

A dead water heater is not something that waits until the weekend. Our line is answered 24/7, and if you call early enough we can usually get a technician to you the same day with a replacement unit on the van.

Before you book, two quick checks are worth doing. First, look at your distribution board and see whether the water heater breaker has tripped — if it has, switch it back on once and see whether it holds. Second, check whether the problem affects every tap or only one; if only one tap runs cold, the heater is probably fine and the issue is at the mixer. Either way, tell us what you found when you book and the technician will arrive prepared for the likely fault.
